Hi there. My name is Arjay B. Araña. I’m a Filipino, a Christian blogger, and an aspiring Drupal developer. This is my personal blog. In here I talk about my life, especially about my own walk with God. I also talk about Christianity and religion in general, and about the Bible and its truths, and about righteous living. Finally, I talk about the Church and the world.

As the subtitle of this blog declares, I’m a Christian writer at the gate…. And that gate refers to a number of spiritual borders: (1) the gate between God and people, (2) the gate between the Church and the world, (3) the gate between holiness and corruption, and (4) the gate between honesty and hypocrisy. And by being at these gates… by standing where the “sinners” are… by not hiding behind the church walls where it is safe… and by not adhering to man-made rules about proper conduct… I show people, through my writing, what is real. In other words, being at the gates boils down to this: I write about what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ and to live by faith — in the real world and in real life — absent all the Christian prejudices, pretensions, and hypocrisies.

Yes, I am a black sheep — in the best sense of the word.

Where I Am Now

Beginning in the first quarter of 2024, after several months of blogging… family crisis after another had forced me to close down my websites, including this blog. That time of difficulty, which had truly derailed my work and plans, culminated in the death of my father last August 2024.

Suffice it to say that because of these latest experiences, I am no longer the man that I was just months before. And in regard to my online works, because of all the changes in me, I just couldn’t pick up where I left off; I had to reorganize, and to rethink things. So that I can move on with as much fresh start as possible.

Still, I believe that my previous works (and previous plans) are not wasted; I may not reuse some of them now, but someday I will. In God’s time.

For now, this is my plan: Rebuild this blog in Drupal, and start writing again. And once I’ve become proficient enough in building websites with Drupal, offer my web services and find clients as a freelancer.

For those of you who knew me before, know that I no longer offer my services as a writer, because I mean to focus right now on web development. But I will still reconsider, if a good writing job comes along :)
